WHAT IS E-WASTE?

E-waste (also known as WEEE*), includes all items of electrical and electronic equipment that have been discarded as waste.
E-waste is any product with circuitry, electronic components, or a battery supply that has been discarded without the intent to reuse.
This includes a wide range of products – almost any household or business item with circuitry or electrical components.
E-waste is the single largest man-made non-biodegradable waste stream in human existence.
Once concentrated, the resulting material serves as feedstock for our purification process.

Current E-waste recycling eco-system:

  • Less than 20% of E-waste is recycled or refurbished.
  • More than 80% is dumped in landfills or incinerated, representing roughly 54 million tonnes of waste and $57B in lost metal value in 2020.

DISTRIBUTED PRE-CONCENTRATOR PLANTS

Cut costs by locating close to supply

  • Initial pre-concentrator plant is co-located with our main refinery in Greenville, North Carolina.
  • Each plant collects E-waste for local processing into concentrate.
  • Each pre-concentrator plant envisioned to produce up to 2,100 tonnes of concentrate per year.
  • Target of 24 tonnes of raw waste Printed Circuit Board’s (PCB’s) to be concentrated to 6 tonnes of concentrate at each plant, every day.

Pre-concentrator Plant Growth Strategy

  • Ramp-up current production to 1 tonne/day.
  • Expand current active plant to 24 tonnes/day.
  • Add 1 concentrator plant per year over years 2 to 4.
